bullet Lateral Inhibition and Chest Radiographs
An applied example of the need to understand the effect of lateral inhibition in the perception of lightness. Researchers at Central Middlesex Hospital Department of Imaging, UK, make the argument that grey shades are less visible in chest radiographs if they do not occur at a boundary or edge.
