Global Studies: Literature

Academic Interests

I was trained in American and English "modernism," the writing done by the "major" figures from around 1885 through the nineteen twenties. I continue to teach the writers of that period, although I have increasingly focused on American literatures. The plural means to indicate that along with the major American figures, I have been interested in those to whom attention has not much been paid, African American writers, and, most particularly, Native American writers. The descriptions of my recent courses should give some idea of my concerns in these regards.
