1. Equiluminant Effects
Due Tuesday 19th of September by 8PM
I want you to find one good example of the use of equiluminant colors in an existent artwork.
Check for the existence of equiluminance by creating a greyscale version of
the image using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, then post both images onto
the Collaboration page of our course site.
To post the colored images add a new thread to the equilumnant images forum and append your image to the message. To add your greyscale image reply to your own posting and append the image there.
2. Simultaneous Color Contrast Effects
Due Tuesday 3rd of October by 8PM
Use Photoshop or another image creation program to create as strong a simultaneous color contrast effect as you can.
Explore the effects of color choice, size, shape, and configuration (pattern) on the strength of the effect.
You can create your image using another medium if you wish: paint, colored paper, or a photograph. If you do this scan or take a digital picture of your image, so that you can post it onto the Collaboration section of our mySLC site.
Another way to fulfill this assignment is to find existing artwork (not the images of perceptual psychologists) that employs simultaneous contrast effects.
Post your image onto the Collaboration page of our mySLC course site under the Simultaneous Color Contrast Effects Forum.
3. Depthful Images
Due Tuesday 31st October by 8PM
Use Photoshop or another image creation program to create a "depthful" image. You can use any or all of the pictorial cues to depth to create a compelling image and you may want to try your hand at adding the possibility of stereo depth using either anaglyph or autostereogram methods.
As usual you are welcome to create your image in another medium and scan it or take a digital picture. You can use artwork that you have already produced to fulfill this assignment.
Post your image as a new thread in the Depthful Images forum on the myslc pages.

4. Front Page Re-design
Due Sunday 12th November by 8PM
Produce a new front page for our course web pages that employs some of the visual effects that we have discussed in seminars. The only constraints are that it has to include the text 'Art & Visual Perception' and that it should be of an appropriate size.
Post your image as a new thread in the New Front Page Images forum on the myslc pages.
