Image rollovers can be a very nice effect to add to a web page and require using both Photoshop and Dreamweaver. For this explanation, I'm going to reconstruct one of the rollovers on the navigational frame on the inner pages of the Wax Tablets site:
In order to construct this, two images were made in Photoshop:

images_alt.gif |
The two images are actually just two versions of one piece of text one with the layer effect Bevel and Emboss applied to it. They need to be exactly the same size, and I would recommend you use the same kind of file type (.gif or .jpg) and compression if you want the transition from one to the other to be smooth.
Once you've created the two parts to the image rollover, open up the file in
which you would like it to go. After you have the cursor in the right position,
select either the rollover button from the objects palette
or Insert > Rollover Image. This dialog box will pop up.

The image you want to appear until the mouse is placed over it is the Original Image, and the Rollover Image is the second "active" image. If you would like the rollover image to link to a file or URL, that goes in the When Clicked, Go To URL field. In order to check to make sure it worked, you will need to preview your page in a browser like Netscape.
