Films

Ultimate Science Fiction Web Guide
Self described as containing "almost six thousand links to web science fiction resources."

BladeZone
There is a glut of Blade Runner websites on the web. This one seems to contain one of the more extensive link lists. It offers a newsletter, movie scripts, interviews with cast/crew members, and some deleted scenes from the movie.

History of Film & Photography

George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film
Includes a timeline of important events in the history of photography, as well as descriptions of the museum collection, some informative videos of photgraphic techniques and film clips, and a small online gallery. The real world museum is located in Rochester.

American Museum of Photography
This is the "primer" page of the A.M.P. - it contains short descriptions of different techniques used throughout the history of photography. There are also roughly a dozen good links to other online photography museums.

Films & Animations
An extensive resource on the history of film and the men responsible for it. The site is also a gallery for the designer's excellent gif animations which are designed to recreate how these historical short film clips looked. Must see!

Pre-Cinema History
Begins in the B.C. era, ends with the invention of the cinema, and covers everything in between.

Technical

RIT Photography Articles
This is part of the Photography Department's web site at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The page is a collection of articles written by their faculty members on (mostly) technical aspects of specialized photography. There are also some do it yourself and historical articles. Some techniques include the stroboscope, developing film using coffee, speed photography, and stereo photography, among others.

Persistence of Vision
Don't be particularly scared that this site is described as technical - it is only insofar as it describes the phenomena of persistence of vision. It was written for all audiences, however, and also includes some very easy projects for building early animation devices.
