Syllabus Portlet
The Course Syllabus portlet provides space to post a syllabus. You should create a separate element for each section or unit of the syllabus.
When the portlet is empty it looks like this:

Clicking “Create Content” will bring you to a form that creates a new element in the portlet. You can create a header, add image, and insert content for the element.

You can copy and paste text in from Microsoft Word or other applications and the formatting will be preserved. However, if you do this while using Internet Explorer on a PC, you may see the following dialog box:

This dialog box will appear if you are using Internet Explorer 7. Click “Allow access” each time it appears to continue. If, however, you are using Internet Explorer 6, the following dialog box will appear in lieu of the previous one:

Click OK.
In Firefox, the first time you paste text in, you will see a message about a popup being blocked. Click on the button marked “Options” at the top right of the browser window, and then select “Allow popups for my.slc.edu”. That way, you will not see that message again on this computer.

Now, each time you paste text from word while using Firefox a window will appear allowing you to paste your text into it:

Paste the text then click “Insert”. The purpose of this extra is that it preserves your Word formatting while cleaning the code behind the scenes for presentation on the web page.
After adding some content, the portlet looks like the following.

Click “Edit Content” to edit or add content. Click the pencil icon above a content element to edit the text or header within that element. Click reorder elements to change the order that the content elements appear in. Finally, click “Add a new element” in the top right corner to add a new content element.
