How many pages do I have available per semester/year?

During each semester $12.50 is available to every student, this amount is added one business day before all students are allowed back in their dorm rooms. Any balance remaining from the fall semester will carry over to the spring semester. At the end of each academic year (Graduation Day in May) all remaining balances are zeroed out. Enrollment in certain classes will entitle students to additional copy/print money, these totals are automatically given on a per semester basis the day after the end of the add/drop period and are zeroed out at the end of each semester. The classes and amounts are listed below:

Students enrolled in certain undergraduate poetry courses get an additional account with $10 per class

Students enrolled in certain undergraduate fiction/nonfiction courses get an additional account with $25 per class

Students enrolled in certain Theater courses get an additional $25 per class

Students enrolled in certain Graduate Writing classes will receive varying copy/print amounts depending on the course

Students enrolled in certain Visual Arts classes will receive varying print amounts depending on the course

Students enrolled in Health Advocacy get $100

How much does it cost to print or copy a page on campus?

Black and white copying/printing costs 5 cents a page or 5 cents a side where duplex printing/copying is available
Color laser Printing costs 45 cents a page (Heimbold Visual Art Center only)
Color photo inkjet costs 65 cents a page (Heimbold Visual Art Center only)

How do I use the Pay-for-Print station?

To use the Pay-for-Print station simply walk up to the station that you printed to and select the job you wish to print by double clicking on it. It will display the cost of printing that job, if you agree to the amount simply swipe your SLC ID through the card reader available in front of the station. Your account will be charged and the print job will then be sent to the printer. Your balance of the account used will be displayed with the account number on the bottom left of the screen.

How do I use my ID card for copying?

Simply swipe your ID – the amount displayed will be the total funds available up to 500. Simply copy what you need and hit quit when completed. Hitting quit will prevent the next person from accidentally using your remaining copies. Once you hit quit the terminal will display the account and the remaining balance of that account. Please note that the terminal will time out after 99 seconds if there is no activity, if you need to search for a page to copy during this time simply press the hold button on the copy terminal. If the terminal has already timed out or if the page count has gone down to zero simply swipe your card again.

How do I add to my/check my remaining balance?

At the end of a transaction the balance remaining on the account being used (ex. 20 or 203) is displayed on the terminal, this is not the total of all accounts. The balance of your one card account is available 24 hours a day at the CSVT (Card System Value Terminal) located next to the ATM in the Ruth Leff Siegel Center ATM annex. Additional credits can be added at the CSVT. Currently the only way to check all remaining funds available for copying is at Operations and Facilities (“Purple Door”). There are future plans of making this information available elsewhere.

Will I be charged twice If I swipe my card more than once at the print release station?

Only if you are swiping for different print jobs, otherwise swiping for the same job does not charge your card twice.

Is color printing available?

Yes. The Heimbold Visual Art Center Digital Media Lab has several color printers.

Is wireless printing available?

No. There are no plans to make printing available via the wireless network.

When I swipe my card at a copy terminal it only gives me 500 copies. What’s going on?

The way the system is set up, your entire balance is frozen up to 500 copies at a time. If additional copies are needed you must swipe your card again.

Whom do I speak to if the printer has no paper, no ink or is not working properly?

Please speak with a lab monitor located at the help desk.

Nothing came out of the printer after I swiped my card and my balance is lower now or the pages that were produced were not printed correctly. What are my options?

A request for a credit can be made at Operations and Facilities (purple door), please bring your ID and incorrectly printed pages along with you when available. Please note date, time, and printer number or copier location of where you experienced the problem.

Why do I have different amounts available at different locations that accept my Sarah Lawrence ID card?

Currently any one student can have multiple accounts that have different functions and can only be used at certain locations. The following is the list of accounts that a student can have.

1 Card account (20) – Everybody receives this account with a zero balance and is available to be used at any location that excepts your campus ID for payment. The amount of locations that except this are increasing all the time. This account can be added to by depositing cash at the CSVT (Card System Value Terminal) located next to the ATM in the Ruth Leff Siegel Center ATM annex or by check via Operations and Facilities (“Purple Door”). Please note this account is only used when no other funds are available for that location.

Graduate Writing (205) – Students enrolled in certain Graduate Writing courses get this account with varying amounts depending on course. This amount is added one business day after the add/drop period ends. This account is removed at the end of the semester when all students must leave there dorm rooms (fall semester) or on Graduation Day(spring semester). This account not available at any color printing/copying location.

Initial Copy/Print account (200) – Every student receives this account with a balance of $12.50 at the beginning of the fall semester, then an additional $12.50 is added at the beginning of the Spring semester. All student balances on this account are removed on Graduation day in May. This account is available for use at any print or copy location.

Student Poetry (201) – Students enrolled in certain undergraduate poetry courses get an additional $10 added to this account for each class. This amount is added one business day after the add/drop period ends. This account is removed at the end of the semester when all students must leave there dorm rooms (fall semester) or on Graduation Day(spring semester). This account is available to use at any print or copy location.
