MFA in Dance at Sarah Lawrence College is a holistic training program for dance artists as cultural citizens of the 21st century. We center rigorous play along with diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and mutual respect as core values within all our endeavors. Our program benefits from a high level of interaction with the rich community of leading dance practitioners living and work in the NYC metropolitan area. Students have the opportunity to be challenged and inspired by leading artists in the dance field. These exchanges are supplemented by a significant amount of individual one-on-one attention from the permanent faculty. Our graduates follow a spectrum of career pathways after graduation including choreographers, performers, teachers (in higher education, adult education and K-12), scholars, and various other professional roles. Our curriculum is based on a synergy of movement practice, creative research, and analytic or theoretical studies. While the graduate MFA in Dance Program is structured around select curriculum dedicated solely to graduate students, other curriculum integrates the graduate students in various ways with the undergraduate students as a creative community. The application deadline for our MFA in Dance Program for 2022-2023 is on January 1, 2023!
